Disentangling sub-GeV dark matter from the diffuse supernova neutrino background using Hyper-Kamiokande

چکیده
The upcoming Hyper-Kamiokande (HyperK) experiment is expected to detect the Diffuse Supernova Neutrino Background (DSNB). This requires ponder all possible sources of background. Sub-GeV dark matter (DM) which annihilates into neutrinos a potential background that has not been considered so far. We simulate DSNB and DM signals, as well backgrounds in HyperK detector. find DM-induced could indeed alter extraction correct values parameters interest for physics. Since an isotropic signal, originates primarily from Galactic centre, we show this effect be alleviated with on-off analysis.

Constraints on sterile neutrino as a dark matter candidate from the diffuse X-ray background
Sterile neutrinos with masses in the keV range are viable candidates for the warm dark matter. We analyze existing data for the extragalactic diffuse X-ray background for signatures of sterile neutrino decay. The absence of detectable signal within current uncertainties of background measurements puts model-independent constraints on allowed values of sterile neutrino mass and mixing angle, whi...

متن کاملThe diffuse supernova neutrino flux
I review the status and perspectives of the research on the diffuse flux of (core collapse) supernova neutrinos (DSNνF). In absence of a positive signal, several upper bounds exist in different detection channels. Of these, the strongest is the limit from SuperKamiokande (SK) of 1.2 electron antineutrinos cms at 90% confidence level above 19.3 MeV of neutrino energy. The predictions of the DSNν...
متن کاملThe Supernova Relic Neutrino Background
A Type II supernova (SN II ) – the explosion triggered by the gravitational collapse of a single massive star – emits 99% of its energy in neutrinos. The relic ν̄e background created by all past SN II is potentially detectable in present and/or future large underground neutrino detectors. One of the goals of the current SuperK and SNO detectors is to detect this SRN background [1,2]. The predict...
متن کاملBaryonic Dark Matter and the Diffuse γ-ray Background
We show that the baryonic gas content of the halo of our galaxy can be probed by performing a multipole expansion on the distribution of diffuse background gamma-ray emission. While the monopole moment (isotropic background) can be used to constrain the baryonic fraction of the halo gas, the quadrupole to monopole ratio is a sensitive probe of the distribution of gas in the halo, i.e. the degre...
